Kettle Falls
This image has been viewed 871 times
Image titled “Kettle Falls, Washington.” This color image, likely taken just prior to the construction of the Grand Coulee Dam in 1935, shows tribal members gathering salmon at one of the region’s greatest fishing and trading spots. The name came from the deep basalt hollows or “kettles” carved by water at the base of the falls. Following the dam’s completion, the Kettle Falls were completely inundated.
