Image titled “Near Glover Field, Spokane, Washington.” This image shows the (mostly) natural grades of the northern and southern banks of the river below the Falls, including this viewpoint, soon to be re-graded and named “Glover Field.” When the third iteration of the Monroe Street Bridge was built in 1910, the southern approach was constructed of wood, in anticipation of backfill that would later raise the Main Street crossing from below the bridge, to level with the bridge elevation as it is today. During the recent reconstruction of the Monroe span, the many of the concrete arches on the north bank seen here were re-exposed to allow passage of the Centennial Trail.
